PLEASANT VALLEY FISH HABITAT IMPROVEMENT PROJECT

FlyWater, Inc. and Stillwater Sciences collaborated on a Design-Build project situated between Stagecoach Reservoir and Catamount Reservoir, encompassing approximately 3,900 feet of the Yampa River. The project was initiated by the Yampa Valley Stream Improvement Charitable Trust (YVSICT), which engaged the services of the FlyWater team. The team facilitated the YVSICT in securing grant funding for the project while conducting surveys and designing the project.
The project objectives were centered on enhancing instream complexity, increasing holding/overwintering water, minimizing sedimentation, augmenting overall cover for trout, and improving the recreational angling opportunities throughout the reach. The entire project was located on public water under the ownership and management of the Bureau of Land Management (BLM), including a newly acquired public parcel situated on the upstream side of the project.
Throughout the design process, the team actively involved both the BLM and the Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW). The project was completed in late summer of 2021.
