FlyWater was engaged by a private landowner with property along the Huerfano River to undertake a comprehensive design/build project in the late summer and early fall of 2022. The primary objectives of this project were to enhance aquatic habitat, expand overwinter refuge for fish, and improve recreational access.

The scope of the project encompassed various aspects, including the optimization of width-to-depth ratios within the river channel, stabilization of eroding banks, and the strategic installation of large wood structures to promote stability and habitat development.

The project involved a meticulous process of assessment, multiple design iterations, permitting, and finally, construction, resulting in the successful completion in the specified timeframe.
