Upper Colorado River Fishery Improvement Project

FlyWater, inc. was commissioned to undertake the enhancement of a private 1.25-mile section of the Colorado River, located downstream of Lake Granby. This particular area had been grappling with challenges pertaining to the width-to-depth ratios in the stream, thereby restricting the availability of suitable trout habitats especially during times of low flows.

Our comprehensive strategy for improvement encompassed augmenting the habitat by introducing enhanced pool depth, incorporating in-stream cover, and creating specialized nursery-type environments to support the growth of fry.

Notably, every material utilized for this endeavor was carefully selected and sourced directly from the on-site resources, emphasizing sustainability and environmental stewardship.
